Section 29 - Solo Diving
Just as some divers feel that having a buddy to share with makes the dive more fun, others seek the solitude and one-on-one encounter with nature that solo diving offers. But the discussion about solo diving is usually about safety. You're taking your life in your own hands and as far as I am concerned, that's where it belongs. It's for you to decide.
Taking photos on a dive may be very boring to a dive partner and in many ways ignores that persons safety, so in reality you are somewhat "solo diving", and so is the other diver without knowing it. There are numerous examples of situations where you are in reality "solo diving" even though another diver is present. Having a kayak to surface to makes solo diving even more tempting.
I have been solo diving from my kayak for over ten years and thoroughly enjoy it.
Plan well, dive safely.
