Section 15 - Backrest

The Scrambler XL comes supplied with a backrest that is the seat type.

A backrest is a must. Sitting up in this kayak, or any other unsupported, is asking for back trouble. There are basically two types, with or without a seat attached.

I prefer the one with the seat. It also has a zippered pocket in the rear for keeping a water bottle, keys, and other small items. The zipper on the one below is metal, so I silicone it now and then to keep it from sticking. The backrest attaches to the kayak eyelets in the front and the kayak strap buckles in the rear. The loose ends are for adjusting the tension.
